Buy and Hold vs. Moving Average ETF Investing 5-14-10

We're on a roller coaster again ETF investors. The S&P 500 was up nearly 50 points last week before settling in for a 13+ point gain for this past week. It looks like severe market swings are much more the norm than in years past so we better fasten our seat-belts.

Our two ETF investors made a pretty decent amount of money last week. The Buy and Hold Investor was up $440. His total portfolio is now worth $15394 for a 53.3% gain since March 2009.

The Moving Average Investor made $301 last week and his total portfolio is worth $11,200 for an 11.5% gain over the same time period.

Both investors are long in the 10 ETFs from the balanced ETF portfolio. The most recent 12 weeks are shown below.
