Buy and Hold vs. Moving Average ETF Investing 3-19-10

The S&P (our general market barometer) moved higher again this week about 11.4 points. The all time highs for our two investor portfolios continue for now.

The buy and hold ETF investor moved higher about $44 in the balanced ETF portfolio. His total portfolio balance is now at $15,616 and the total gain is 55.5% since we starting tracking this portfolio in March of 2009 (55 weeks ago).

The moving average ETF investor gained about $29 for the week. His portfolio is now valued at $11,352 (same balanced portfolio). He has gained 13% for the same 55 week period.

Moving average update:

The 50 day moving average is still above the 200 day moving average for all 10 ETFs from the diversified ETF Portfolio. As a result, no changes are made to the moving average ETF portfolio.
