ETF Investing Strategies: Buy and Hold vs. Moving Average Week Ending 1-1-10

Happy New Year! The S&P 500 was mostly unchanged on Mon, Tues and Wed but then moved lower on Thur. For the week this index was down 12 points. There was probably some adjustments being made to investments before the year was over.

The buy and hold ETF investor lost about $151 for the week in the balanced ETF portfolio. His total portfolio balance is $14,975 for a gain of 49% since we starting tracking this portfolio in March of 2009.

The moving average ETF investor lost about $104 for the week. He has $10,913 invested in the same balanced portfolio. He has gained 8.7% thus far for the same 44 weeks.
