ETF Investing Strategies: Buy and Hold vs. Moving Average Week Ending 12-11-09

The S&P 500 was basically unchanged for the week and there were not any big swings. I would describe it as a boring week for the market. Our two ETF investors, Buy and Hold and Moving Average, both experienced losses for the week.

The buy and hold ETF investor lost about $105 for the week in the balanced ETF portfolio. His total portfolio is currently valued at $14,940.59 for a gain of 49% since we starting tracking this portfolio 41 weeks ago.

The moving average ETF investor lost about $68 for the week. He has $10,897.41 invested in the same balanced portfolio. He has gained 8.5% thus far for the same 41 weeks.
