ETF Investing Strategies: Buy and Hold vs. Moving Average Week 27

Week 27 is in the books since we began comparing a buy and hold vs. a moving average ETF investing strategy. Both strategies did experience a decrease last week. Not surprising since the S&P 500 was mostly down for the week with a bit of a rally on Friday.

Investor A's (buy and hold ETF investing) portfolio went down about $110 this past week to a total value of $13,906.60. His total gain for the past 27 weeks is 38.5%. Still pretty darn good.

Investor B's (moving average ETF investor) portfolio decreased about $84 this past week to a total value of $10,258.44. This is a 2.1% gain in the 27 weeks since this comparison started.

Both investors are using the same balanced ETF portfolio. The most recent 3 month results are graphed below. Clicking on the chart will give you an easier to read view.
