ETF Investing Strategies: Buy and Hold vs. Moving Average Week 24

Twenty-four weeks of the Buy and Hold vs. Actively Managed ETF Investing experiment is over. The S&P 500 was a bit of a roller coaster this past week. It did close about 6 points lower than the previous week but is still over 1,000 which is a good sign.

The Buy and Hold ETF Investor saw his portfolio decrease about $100 this past week. His total value is $13,772.87 which is a 37% gain in 24 weeks.

The Actively Managed Investor stayed about the same this past week. His total ETF portfolio sits at $10150.45 for about a 1% gain. The chart for the most recent 12 weeks comparing the two investors is below.

The actively managed ETF Investor did go long in 3 more ETFs last week. His ETF investing strategy is a 50 day moving average/200 day moving average cross over. You can see an example cross over chart here.
